Message from Dr. Gerald Paterson
TES Principal 2011-2012

Welcome to the community of Tabernacle and to Tabernacle Elementary School nestled in the Pinelands of Burlington County in south central New Jersey.  Part of this rural residential township is included in the state-owned Wharton Tract.  Residents enjoy a quiet atmosphere but are only an hour from Philadelphia or any of the New Jersey beaches.

The Elementary School houses approximately 450 students in preschoGreen boardol through fourth grade.  Our mission is to provide an education that fosters life-long learning in a warm, nurturing environment where everyone is comfortable and is valued. In addition to a highly qualified instructional staff and a standards-based academic curriculum, students are provided with a related arts program that includes art, music, physical education, media skills, technology and Spanish from the time they enter kindergarten.  Third and fourth grade students have the opportunity to participate in band, hand-chimes, chorus, and drama.

We offer a full-range of instructional services designed to meet students’ individual needs which include enrichment, remedial, and supplemental instruction.  Services of a reading specialist, math specialist, gifted and talented teacher, six special education teachers and two speech and language therapists provide necessary instruction for students with unique learning needs.

Our efforts to educate the whole-child do not stop with academics. TES uses the Responsive Classroom model, which is a research-backed approach to elementary education that increases academic achievement, decreases problem behaviors, improves social skills, and leads to more high-quality instruction.

Parents, staff and community work together to ensure our students are enabled to reach their maximum potential. The Board of Education, PTA, Municipal Alliance, Athletic Association, Education Association, and parent volunteers work together and have a positive impact on the success of our students. Through the efforts of so many, Tabernacle students have consistently scored above the State average on the NJASK.

We extend a warm welcome to you if you are moving to the area and planning on becoming a part of our school family. If you would like to arrange a visit, please call the office at 609-268-0153.

You are always welcome!

Sincerely

Gerald Paterson, Ed.D
